IGersBirmingham: The Exhibition

IGersBirmingham: The Exhibition

2016 was a monumental year for the IGersBirmingham account. From passing 11,000 followers on Instagram, to being involved in some of the city’s biggest events and hosting a record-breaking 20 instameets…we sure weren’t going to let this year end without a bang. Hence the first official IGersBirmingham Exhibition and hopefully many more to come.

The IGersBirmingham Exhibition held on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd December set out to celebrate photography, Birmingham, the amazing community and all that they had contributed to each and every instameet they attended, photo posted using the #igersbirmingham hashtag and generally their awesomeness! It was also a chance for people to meet one another, view a selection of images and of course see our shiny new website *exciting*!

From a community wall dotted with quotes and Polaroid prints, photo-of-the day slideshow and selected photographs from each instameet, every single person left with a big smile (probably thinking how flipping fantastic Birmingham is).

There was lot of preparation in the run up to the exhibition and we would not have been able to do anything without the help of our generous sponsors – Birmingham Mail, JQ BID and National Express – without their support we would not have been able to put together our vision for this exhibition. Thank you!

We would also like to say thank you to the following instrumental people and organisations:

–         Richard Wilkinson of Wilkinson Beven Design and Nick Denslow of Glenn Howells Architects for facilitating the exhibition venue

–         Squaresnaps for sponsoring the community area of the exhibition (personally our favourite bit of the exhibition)

–         Steve Townsend for the development of the website

–         Farah from Glaze Cake for donating the yummiest of treats

–         James Benwell for photography on this night (head to our Facebook page to see more)

–         And of course everyone who attended the exhibition over the weekend – you make our community so special!
