How do we pick the Photo Of The Day?

For those for you out there who don’t know how we pick our PHOTO OF THE DAY (#POTD), this is how we do it…

Every night we review all of the images posted to our hashtag #igersbirmingham over the previous 24 hours with the aim of picking one that showcases our beautiful city and the surrounding area in the best possible way. The chosen photographer will be featured on our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter account and will usually receive lots of lovely comments and likes from our amazing community.

By “the city and the surrounding area” we mean a rough circle that goes as far north as the top of Sutton Park, as far east as Birmingham airport, as far south as the Lickey Hills / the M42, and as far west as the Clent Hills.

Every day we can get as many as 150 photographs posted to the hashtag which makes the job of picking POTD really tough! We only pick images that have been posted with our #igersbirmimgham tag and we look for images of good photographic quality. To capture Team IGersBirmingham attention we have put together a few ideas to get your started:

  • Capture something that hasn’t been done before
  • Compose your image well
  • Think about the lighting, colour and angles
  • Be creative with the editing process

There is also an element of personal preference of course as to the type of photos that catch our eye!

So there you have it…if you want to have your images chosen as PHOTO OF THE DAY, just make sure you use our hashtag when you post your image of Birmingham. You never know it might just be you next time…
